I've always been curious about what goes on at home when I'm not there. What do my dogs do all day? Can I watch my new little baby play and maybe take its first steps while I'm at work? This product is one of the simplest electronic products I've ever set-up. All I had to do was plug-in the camera, attach it to my home router and log in to the Astak site. My cameras were up and running.
This product can be used for so many different purposes: to be a video security/surveillance system, check on things at a business or home, or whatever else you can think of doing. Check out the stuff posted on You Tube. People actually caught people robbing their business.
This is what I like about this product:
1. Setup was a breeze
2. Only one wire to plug it into an outlet for power.
3. I can move the cameras around as needed. For example, some days I put it in my garage to watch the dogs while I'm gone. On other days, I have the camera sitting on the dresser in the babies room.
4. They are linked to your internet wirelessly
5. The website and camera functions are very easy to use
6. The image quality is great and the night vision works awesome.
7. I can share my camera with my family anywhere so that they can see whats going on. (Even my Brother-In-Law in the Army)
8. The range of my camera seemed just as good or better than my wireless home phone.
9. Works great with my iPhone to check in via the web.
10. The Yoics software program is very easy to use and easy to see other family members camera on a secure network. ( Many additional features also for remote desktop applications)
11. Directly posts videos to You Tube
12. Email alerts, motion detection, scheduled recording times, etc.
13. 270 degree turning radius with full tilt
14. Audio- so you can remotely hear what's going on
15. Remote viewing,sharing, and controlling
This is what I wish the product would do better:
1. Provide me with an iPhone app soon so that I can quickly check-in with one push of a button
2. Have a way for me to zoom into an area to get more clarity.
3. Have a battery back-up Overall, I think the product is excellent for people that want to see what's going on in places when they are not there and they are not tech savy enough to hook up more difficult systems. I would recommend this for anyone and plan on buying more cameras in the future.

Terk Technologies Leapfrog LF-30S Wireless 2.4 GHz A/V Distribution System Review

Terk Technologies Leapfrog LF-30S Wireless 2.4 GHz A/V Distribution System

I was looking for a wireless way to send the video & audio from my living room to a bedroom, so that I could watch movies coming from my cable box & DVD player. Having a remote control feature, I chose this model.
I can tell you that the picture was very sharp, and the sound was great. However, I also have a Panasonic KX-TG2730 expandable cordless phone system, which operates on the same 2.4Ghz frequency. With the phone's base plugged in, it produced crackling sound and wide dark bands that scrolled vertically along the picture. Unplug the phone system, and it was flawless. I had read other mixed reviews on interference caused by 2.4Ghz phone systems, but I can tell you that the Panasonic system I mentioned did cause interference for me. I tried moving the phone base, and tried all four channels on the Leapfrog Wavemaster 30 video transmitter, but nothing helped.
In short, if you don't use any other wireless devices using the 2.4Ghz frequency (cordless phones, wireless network devices), the Terk Leapfrog Wavemaster 30 delivers a great picture with equally great sound. If you do use other wireless devices on the same frequency, I would look for a video transmitter that uses a different frequency (or a wired one), or be prepared to return it to the store.

The Leapfrog LF-30S from Terk Technologies is a wireless transmitter/receiver system that eliminates the need--and the expense--of running extra wires from room to room in order to enjoy your audio/video entertainment from multiple in-home locations. Using the system's IR blaster, you can even control your first-room components from your second-room locations. It's as good as having two or more of everything.By transmitting across the 2.4 GHz frequency band, the LF-30S gives you the clearest possible signal with a range of up to a 150 feet. The Leapfrog's signals penetrate walls, doors, ceilings, and floors with no interference. Multiple channel selection lets you select the best possible signal from four different channels. The LF-30S is easy to install, requiring no tools for setup.A built-in modulator ensures easy connections with any TV, either new or old. The LF-30S system is expandable, too: with the purchase of additional receivers, you can use it with multiple TVs or other components throughout your home.
What's in the Box Transmitter, receiver, IR remote control transmitter, remote control receiver, 2 AC power adapters, and a user's manual.

Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Wired Pan & Tilt IP Camera with 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens (67° Viewing Angle) - Black NEWEST MODEL (replaces the FI8908W) Review

Foscam FI8918W Wireless/Wired Pan and Tilt IP Camera with 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens (67° Viewing Angle) - Black NEWEST MODEL (replaces the FI8908W)

Summary: Overall this camera does everything well, and for the price, nothing comes close.
Setup was quick and painless. I plugged the camera into my router with the included cable and after checking my router settings for the IP address, I could access the camera straight from a browser. On the settings page I only modified the username/password, adjusted the pan/tilt speed and added my wireless settings. There are a lot of other options, but these are the basics to get up and running and allow placement of the camera anywhere within range of your wireless router with only the power adapter.
The picture is clear and works in all light conditions from total darkness to daylight. The IR is very useful in both of my toddlers rooms at night. The wide angle allows me to see a lot and with the pan/tilt I can see everything.
We have iPhones and we use an app called "Foscam Surveillance". It works well with these cameras (including the pan/tilt function) and is only $5. We can also access these cameras from outside our home over the internet either from a browser on say my computer at work or using the app on my iPhone. My husband set that up, send me a message and I will see if I can have him post some instructions on how to do that. It's great for checking on the kids when they are with the sitter or knowing that our home is safe when we are gone on the weekends. The peace of mind has been priceless for us.
My husband and I already had a few of the previous model, the Foscam FI8908W. Although not a giant leap, there are some definite improvements that make this a worthwhile upgrade. Some improvements are:
1.) Increased pan/tilt range and speed settings (fast is nice when following a running child!)
2.) Slightly improved look and smaller size
3.) Replaced the activity light on the front of the camera with an additional IR LED
4.) The onboard speaker and microphone have much clearer sound than the old model and are accompanied by additional audio input and output jacks on the back to allow an external speaker and/or microphone.
5.) Ability to turn off the IR LEDs from the web interface
Conclusion: My husband and I have found this IP camera is easy to setup and works well to remotely view areas around our home. Believe me when I say we did a lot of research, and for the price, nothing comes close to this IP camera.
