(More customer reviews)I haven't had this router in service long, so I can't really speak to durability. I was lucky I had this on hand, because a Netgear N600 router I bought last November (and had to replace in January) turned out to be a total waste of plastic and circuitry.
The setup for this router was a bit odd. Normally I just plug a router in and it works. This one did not see the cable modem until after I had run its set up CD. I see another reviewer making just the opposite comment. He reported that he plugged in the router and it worked instantly. That was not the experience I had. I plugged mine in, waited several minutes for it to see the internet, and kept getting the "site not found" error. Only after I used the installation CD did the router see the internet. Possibly there was some period of time before it connected to the cable modem and the timing of the CD installation was coincidental, but I'm just reporting what happened to me.
The second odd thing about the set up is that the wireless settings were oddly labeled in the interface. Yes, you can call the network name the SSID, and you can call the password the network key, but really, why? At least put the terms that most people recognize these settings by in parenthesis by the more technical label. Now, I'm a computer pro and know what these terms mean, but many casual users may not.
The set up cost this product a star.
However, once I had the set up out of the way, the router has worked fine. It has the juicy N600 speed and my network is functioning. That's all I need to know or share about a router as long as it keeps working (unlike the Netgear POS it replaced).
